•  personal details
•  family details
•  lifestyle and social circumstances
•  goods and services purchased from our company
•  financial transaction details
•  physical or mental health details

Why are we asking you for your information?

We do need to ask you about certain things, like your medical history, as it affects your body. We want to give you the best possible treatment when you visit us and to do this we need you to be honest with us about your health and lifestyle. We are required by law to keep records of your treatments and this information forms part of this. If you register your mobile phone number then we will send you a text message reminder too.

Sometimes it is necessary to share some of your information. So who will we share it with?

We primarily share your information with you, our patient. When necessary or required, we may also share your data with other healthcare professionals, such as your GP or nurse. If you are a minor, we may share information with your parent or guardian, and if you have a welfare guardian or carer, we may share information with them (with your consent) to ensure you receive the support needed to attend appointments. If you are reclaiming treatment costs from an insurer, we may share relevant details with them, such as appointment dates and costs, for verification purposes.

Whenever we share your data, we strictly comply with the Data Protection Act (DPA), the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), and are registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) to ensure full protection of your privacy.

Additionally, you will have the option to receive updates from us about special offers or new services. We do not share your data with marketing companies, and we will never sell your information for marketing purposes.

How do we store your data?

Our practice is digital and our records are all securely stored in line with the law. Some of our data is stored outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) and these servers are all compliant with the relevant data protection laws.

Who is your data controller?

Our Lead Podiatrist Amanda Weir is responsible for overseeing our data protection. She can be contacted at the clinic or by email at hello@theweirclinic.co.uk

I want to remove my information from your company, how can I do that?
If you contact our data controller Amanda then she will be happy to explain your options. We are legally required to keep your medical records for a set period of time and this varies for different groups of people.

What happens to my data when I contact you through your website or social media pages?

If you are contacting us through these methods then your data will be used to help answer your enquiry. Your details will only be registered with us if you then go on to register as a patient.
